The Flip is Almost Done!

These pictures are almost 2 months old... however I finally have a few minutes.  Actually I am just avoiding house work and laundry:)
Removing a few old posts with the help of the hubbys and kiddos.

I think I see Dan almost smiling... maybe?

... I am probably asking for Dan's help with something else:)

Good times in the old truck... nothing beats a ride to the dump!

Laying flooring is almost as bad as getting teeth pulled.

However, I prefer to lay flooring in style!... check out those shoes!

Kinda looks like I'm on the toilet... nope just spraying new paint

Much better color!

More flipping progress...

This is a long overdue post and for that I am sorry!  My excuse list is a mile long so I won't even start... Below are helpers #3 and 4... this particular day they were Star Wars Cowboys/ Fix-It men... they spent most of the day repairing their playhouse window.
The children were in the house and each asked for a piece of tape as Carrie and I were taping off doors and what not.  Once or twice I gave each kid a piece or two of tape.... then our entire roll disappeared... I figured I just misplaced it.  Later on that same day I went out to get something from the garage and noticed the below "repair" to the playhouse window.  The kids were so proud stating, "We fixed IT!"  Too funny!

Below is Ali... she was so excited they "fixed" the window.
For Carrie's 30th "birthday" we had a painting party.  I am usually the spray gun operator but I could tell Jacci was dying to get her hands on it... because we were spraying ceilings I warned her to put the paint suit on and cover her hair with something.  When I came back with the camera I almost peed when I saw the tin foil hat she had made for herself.
Just an FYI... Jacci is darn good help!!!  She sprayed every ceiling in the house... once she got all suited up of course:)
Below you can see the kitchen is coming along.  Counter tops and sink are in.  Flooring is half done...
Love the bead board in the bathroom.
The living room needed a little bead board too...oh and new carpet and trim... AMEN!
Our "electrician" AKA Carrie's hubby- a jack of all trades:)
Windows coming next week... I will try very hard to post more updates soon. Click HERE for previous flip posts.

Flipping Progress

So let me just say that when you mix primer with a spatula and drill it isn't exactly like mixing cement... in other words, very little power is needed!  Fortunately for me... there were no witnesses to my complete brain fart.  I plugged in the drill and attached the spatula and squeezed the trigger.  The damn thing spun out of my hands and took off like an out of control jack hammer before I even knew what happened.
Carrie got there just in time to see me scratching my head, going what the hell... and to take a picture or two.
I probably wasted at least $20 worth of primer.
Above are the kitchen cabinet doors laid out and ready for their transformation!  Stay tuned for more pictures!!!

House Flip Post #4

We ARE making progress even though it doesn't quite look like much has changed.  For whatever reason Carrie and I haven't asked our husbands for help either.  It isn't that we refuse to ask them... we just want to Do It Ourselves... and with that said, we certainly got our fair share of that.  We demo-ed the rest of things that needed demo-ing and made some significant progress while we were left home alone all weekend with the 7 kids.  The guys went snowmobiling and we decided to be as productive as possible with all our little ones assisting as you can see in the photos below:)
Above is the dump truck we filled.  This is our third load of junk!
I was using the counter top as my completed list... but then, it too came out!
With our demo efforts we quickly also became electricians and plumbers...
The good news is we didn't electrocute ourselves or flood the place.
These pictures show the lovely living room carpet.  It was completely glued to this crappy Masonite board stuff that was nailed to the original wood floors that are over 100 years old!
Getting this carpet up took nearly 6 hours, 2 grown women, a few small children, a crow bar, two hammers, a sawzall, several Bud Lights, and way too many curse words!
The floors underneath are really cool and old but beyond repairing for this Flip.
Aren't our little helpers cute when they are hard at work!
It was super cute that they too needed work gloves on!  Parker's gloves (far right) are mis-matched mittens:)
That is all for now... we are feeling great about our progress and should be breaking the paint sprayer out of the box soon which is going to be AWESOME!

Tearing into things! The flipperuski post #3

First things first, the ceiling in bedroom #2 is now hole-free.  For whatever reason at some point many years ago people decided to hang false ceilings.... why I must ask???  Anyhow, to our advantage the ceiling in bedroom number 2 is/was false and therefore was drywall.  Pretty easy fix... hang new drywall.  Which is done!  Now for the taping and mudding part....blahhhhck!

Above is the after!

Unfortunately there wasn't a super awesome flag pole story to tell this week or anything like that.  In fact really little progress to report except that Carrie and her family survived the stomach flu.  Our family survived the stomach... (I barely did, gosh I hate puking)  Carrie and her family spent a week in Georgia.  I had stupid stinking hammer toe surgery....ewwwww! (Pictures below since I'm a nurse and a storyteller)
Progress is about to take off shortly though!  I think I'm out of excuses, so we better just get to work!  Christmas break is almost here and that means we have babysitters!!!  Stay tuned for more...

So above is basically what my toe used to look like.  I luckily didn't have a real bone deformity... just an extremely tight extensor tendon of my second toe.  The toe rubs and bears weight in an abnormal way and causes discomfort and pain.  Mine wasn't awful but I had hit my deductible this year already so I HAD to get this taken care of:) Don't worry I'll take after pictures of my pretty little toe once the sutures are gone!!!  oh... you are all very welcome for this mornings Anatomy lesson.
